This work speaks of the connection I have to the garden on my property at Wallarobba. I practise permaculture and understand the balance needed for harmony in the garden. The animals that use the space, setting up microclimates, the seasonal changes are all considerations. My dogs love the freedom and are curious of everything. They have been trained to enjoy living with, but not hurting any living thing in the garden.

Sculptor Bio

Barbara Nanshe

Barbara Nanshe

My intentional approach of over 38 years to Jewellery & Sculpture maintains my strong commitment to sustainability & ethical practice. My use of diverse materials, including found objects, recycled metals, vintage, antique parts, aligns with my commitment adding layers of meaning. Evoking nostalgia & prompting reflection on historical narratives & impacts of colonisation, societal & environmental values, I explore the narrative by committing ideas to collections. Profoundly effected by my experiences as a woman & on the land, I aim to inspire & engage in meaningful conversations toward kindness, connection & environmental consciousness via positive female symbology & feminist ideals.
